Production and Technical Coordinator

Applications are invited for the role of Production and Technical Coordinator (36 hours)

Aim of post:

The role of the Technical and Production Coordinator is to lead all technical operations of the station and on air production as required

The Production and Technical Coordinator reports to the Station Manager.

Key Responsibilities of post

  • Oversee all on air production including advertisement and promotional material.
  • Assist with Sound & Vision projects in a production capacity
  • Ensure the station remains on air/online at all scheduled times;
  • Ensure a high standard of audio output for the station
  • Perform maintenance and upgrades of computers, network and studio equipment, ensuring that all equipment/systems are fully functioning;
  • Oversee the station website domain, email accounts for the station
  • Coordinate broadcast schedule and podcast uploads;
  • Report and address any transmission issues;
  • Provide technical support and overseeing of outside broadcasts;
  • Provided technical assistance and sound desk training to volunteers;
  • Liaise with outside contractors and procurement of services and equipment
  • Maintain the broadcast archive and logging system

While all members of staff have individual job descriptions they are required to collaborate with all other staff. S/he may be expected to work in different locations and to undertake other duties from time to time. Some weekend work will be required.

Essentials skills required for this post

  • A proven in depth knowledge of computers and networks usage and maintenance
  • An excellent knowledge of sound and studio equipment
  • A strong working knowledge of radio production and techniques
  • Excellent organisational and problem solving skills
  • Good communication skills including ability to deal with a wide range of needs
  • Ability to work on own initiative and prioritise own work to meet agreed objective
  • Ability to work as part of a team

Outreach and Training Coordinator

Applications are invited for the role of Outreach and Training Coordinator (22 hours per week).

Aim of post

The aim of the Outreach and Training Coordinator is to build partnerships with local community groups, schools and local charities in line with the Station’s objective ‘to provide education and training to individuals, geographic communities and communities of interest order to facilitate community radio as a medium of community development and expression’ and to facilitate volunteer participation in the station through the design and-delivery of a programme of training aimed at building the confidence and capacity of volunteers to ensure quality programming.

Key Responsibilities of post

Outreach

  • Liaise and build partnerships with local community groups, schools and local charities
  • Promote the station in the community
  • Contribute to planning and organising community-focused Station activities
  • Circulate relevant information about volunteer opportunities to the wider community.
  • Develop the database of local community groups, schools and local charities

 

Training

  • Prepare a comprehensive annual training plan (including QQI accredited training) for community groups, schools and local charities, in conjunction with the manager and other staff members
  • Design and-deliver a programme of training aimed at building the confidence and capacity of volunteers to ensure quality programming.
  • Deliver one to one training and feedback to volunteers when required
  • Induct and coordinate and deliver volunteer training
  • Coordinate and facilitate work placements

Essentials skills required for this post

  • A strong working knowledge of broadcasting, radio production and techniques
  • Experience of developing, planning and delivering training (with a ‘Train the Trainer’ qualification or willing to study towards qualification)
  • Ability to communicate and work with a diverse range of individuals and organisations
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent organisational and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work on own initiative and prioritise own work to meet agreed objective
  • Ability to work as part of a team
