Ballina Community radio

Ballina Community Radio began broadcasting to Ballina and its environs on Saturday 15th June 2019 and will run for 50 weekends.

This marks the first 100 day license after two successful 30 day licenses awarded in 2015 and 2017. The community radio will broadcast locally on 101.9FM or listeners can go online via www.bcrfm.ie, or from a device using the TuneIn app.

Since its inception 5 years ago the station has reached listeners all around the country and the world. BCRFM began broadcasting online in July 2014 with an interest in raising awareness of local groups, charities, events and to have the voices of local people represented on the radio. Taking its cue from community radio elsewhere, BCRFM is a non-profit station that is volunteer-lead.

BCRFM’s shows are varied, playlist-free and wide-ranging and most of its presenters are drawn from the local area. The weekend schedule offers a mix of music shows including country, rock, trad, 50’s and 60’s, classical plus a weekly chart show. There is something for everyone with a new sports show presented by ‘Ah Ref’, a cookery show, business show and four magazine style chat shows.
